UEFA Euro 2012 Qualifiers

Qualifying for Euro 2012 has already begun but the big boys join the fray the Friday. UEFA has departed from it's usually Saturday and Wednesday combination for these games and moved to a Friday-Tuesday system. The World Cup is a distant memory now (except to Spain maybe) and for some of the marquee names in the game it will be a chance to erase the memories of a wretched campaign in South Africa. England and France will start the competition at home while the Italian selection will have an awkward visit to Estonia. Television coverage for many of the other games has yet to be confirmed so please check our fixtures page regularly for updates.

The Barclay's Premier League Trophy made a surprise appearance at Nevada Smiths recently. The Premier League had originally organized a Trophy Tour of North America last April but a certain volcano in Iceland put the kibosh on that. The Trophy sat resplendent on the bar for most of the day at Nevada Smiths and the patrons that were present were lucky enough to have their photograph taken with it, including lifelong Chelsea fan, Brian Pixton, who even managed to hold the trophy that Chelsea captain John Terry lifted for this years Barclay's Premier League Champion.

Football - American Operations

The state of the art, 25,000 capacity Red Bull Arena is now the proud home of Red Bull New York. The Stadium is a World Class facility and has set the benchmark for all MLS teams. If you love football, you need to head out to this venue and support professional football in the area. Path trains drop you right at the stadium.

Thierry Henry scored his first league goal for New York and inspired The Red Bulls to a 2 - 0 win over San Jose in front of 22,000 at Red Bull Arena. They are just four points behind leader Columbus now but more importantly are starting to play like a team and with the post season in sight, they are hitting high gear at the right time. A road trip to defending champions Real Salt Lake is up next and as usual the game will be broadcast at Nevada Smiths, the home of the Empire Supporters Club of New York Red Bull. www.newyorkredbulls.com

Fluminense's draw with Vasco last week allowed Corinthians to close the gap at the top of the 2010 Campeonato Brasileiro to just two points. Though they have won 30 Campeonato Carioca (the Rio State Championship) the Tricolor have only one National Title to their name and that was won 26 years ago. After sacking some of his senior players, the managers faith in the youth of Fluminense was rewarded as they sensationally avoided relegation on the last day of the season and are now fighting for their first Serie A title since 1984.

The legendary Sir Alex Ferguson crossed the pond and paid a visit to New York City recently. Sir Alex made his way to the place where Football is Religion - Nevada Smiths and watched the Aston Villa v Manchester City game.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich watched his team beat Bolton the other week, funny the last time he was in Chelsea were playing Bolton away as well.
